To run Waldo you MUST change the application size to 1000. If you are displaying XRes then you MUST increase the size of HyperCard to 2000. Version 3.3.5 corrects for a incompatibility between HyperCard and HyperCard Player when displaying windows. In earlier versions when run under HyperCard Player the Windows menu would function erratically--this was because Player does not have the Variable Watcher or the Message Watcher and therefore they will not be listed with the windows command. Version 3.3.5 corrects a bug with the Title field when displaying a Title formatted from the “middle” of a line of text. Version 3.4.5 adds a new function to the current Page button--when clicked on the Page Graphics are hidden (in OpenBook) and the Page number on the button will be displayed in boldface as long as the graphic is hidden. *3.3.2*
Editorial: If you find a bug do not assume everyone has--please E-mail or write a letter. If I hear from you I'll fix it immediately! If there is a function that needs inclusion or redesign let me know I'll respond immediately! This program is designed to meet your needs.
Version 3.3.2 corrects for bugs in 3.3.1
1) In version 3.3.1 the Search List delete function was supposed to display the name of the current list inside of brackets, [SaerchList.sl], but the variable name was displayed instead but this is corrected in version 3.3.2.
2) Paste into Window interacted adversely with the Page picture function and presented 2 different error dialogues. After the two dialogues were put away then the "Paste into Window" function worked correctly. This has been corrected in version 3.3.2. A work around in version 3.3.1 is to click on the Current Page button and then select the "Paste into Window" menu item.
3) The random Page Generator function in the Page? button "on the Front Page" in version 3.3.1 did not operate properly but that is corrected in version 3.3.2.
4) The copy text function with TwinText on in version 3.3.1 did not operate properly but that is corrected in version 3.3.2.
5) Hold down the option key, not the shift key, in version 3.3.2. when recalling the last Page Twined with the TwinText function.
6) Version 3.3.2 adds the "resource..." menu item to the Waldo menu.
Resource.. menu item of Waldo menu allows for the addition of external functions via utility stacks from ARTWAY. SoftWare artists may obtain a license to write and distribute their own external functions for Waldo. Write or call for details.
7) In version 3.3.2 when using TwinText and copying from a field all text styles and sizes are preserved.
8) TwinText now, with 3.3.2, preserves the scroll of the fields.
9) In the HyperQueue list view in previous versions a Yen symbol as the 1st character of the 2nd word maked it as the name of an XRes. In version 3.3.2 the Yen character is changed to the "•" bullet character. The Yen symbol is used in the file as always but in the list view it is displayed as a bullet for clarity's sake.
10) New with version 3.3.2 the XStack list view now displays the title, as much as will fit, of the Page highlited in the right side of the message box.
11) In version 3.3.1 when TwinText™ was on and you went to the Front Page the page graphics would be missing presenting a maze of buttons (just enter "show cd picture" into the message box to restore the card picture). This has been corrected in version 3.3.2.
12) In version 3.3.1 when TwinText was on and you accessed a Spot in a HyperQueue the word was highlited but then the page scrolled to the top. This has been corrected in version 3.3.2.
13) In version 3.3.1 modifications to a HyperQueue List from within the "List View" were not saved--this has been corrected in version 3.3.2.
^
*Version 3.3.1*
Version 3.3.1 corrects for several bugs in 3.3.
1) In 3.3 you needed to click twice on a document field to activate a function now, you only click once.
2) In 3.3 "Locked" Waldos had problems with Loading and Erasing HyperQueue lists when there were locked Queues present--these have been fixed.
3) In 3.3 When you had loaded a HyperQueue list below "locked" lists in a "locked" Waldo and then erased the "unlocked" list the Locked list was named the same as the old list erased. Now the "locked" list never looses its name.
4) In 3.3 when ever you clicked on the HyperQueue List Button it would set the current list as having been modified--this has been corrected.
5) In 3.3 when you clicked on the Current Page Button, in a "locked" Waldo then a "hidden" Page graphic would be shown. Now in 3.3.1 clicking on the Current Page Button, in a "locked" Waldo with a Page graphic on that Page, will hide and show the Page graphic depending on whether the graphic is showing or not.
^
*Version 3.3 is a major upgrade* and replaces HyperButtons with HyperQueues. HyperQueue Lists will not load into version 3.3 or later. (I have no plans to write a conversion program for HyperButton Lists to HyperQueue Lists unless I hear from registered users saying they need that function.) Version 3.3 adds XRes function to the notes of HyperQueue Lists. 3.3 also add much improved font handling. The default font is now Geneva 14 point with a 12 point option. Fonts may be selected with the standard Macintosh interface. This version refines the user interface and some buttons have been repositioned while others have been eliminated. The BBS text output functions have been removed and are in a separate application called BBT™ (for Bulletin Board Text). Version 3.3 Version 3.3 also corrects for a few minor bugs.
^
*OpenBook™*
Authors and Publishers may obtain a password for a fee that allows them to "lock" text and graphics into Waldo and distribute it as a "closed" book while still maintaining its "open" properties. This book would be distributed not as ShareWare but as a commercial book on disk and may be a single self-contained stack. To distribute an OpenBook™ the publisher must pay a special license fee.
^
*NO QUOTES*
IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not include quotes in a Title. This will confuse Waldo and text will not format correctly!
^
*Version 3.1.2* Corrects the bug that occurs when Selecting a Filename from the File List to be loaded. In version 3.1.1 the selected File name was not being shown in the Load dialogue as it should have been. This is now corrected.
^
*Version 3.1.1* Corrects the bug that occurs when Transferring a Title from the Button Titles List to the Titles List. It also improves the interface.
Version 3.1.1 refines Select function for Scan List as well as refining the List view of HyperQueues (now HyperQueue.) In both cases the Message Box displays the number of the next item in the Queue in brackets. And Click will exit without repositioning an item Selected from the List.
Waldo version 3.1 is an update. New and old users alike should read this document.
^
*3.0.6*
4/92
NOTE: Discard any any version of Waldo earlier than 3.0.6.
Version 3.0.6.1 corrects for the lack of a return after a line in WaldoDocs and for the title field at the bottom of Document Pages.
Version 3.0.6 is a minor fix for functions in previous versions including the Picture List and some other minor problems including not displaying Xstacks with TwinText enabled.Check the Import Page in Waldo on the left upper corner for the current version number.
NOTE: Waldo Version 3.0.6 and later replaces the "Picture" function with the "XStacks" function. XStack stands for eXternal Stacks. The new name reflects the great range of possibilities for this function rather than the limited term "Pictures."You may have as many XStacks as there are Pages in a given Waldo document (up to 999 Pages and XStacks).(The Picture function was limited to 10 different stacks.)
^
*NOTE: To users of earlier versions of Waldo*, please read this whole document as there have been many changes to Waldo since the last release (3.0.6.1).Some changes have been in response to changes in HyperCard as well as bugs in various versions of HyperCard. Waldo 3.1.1 is compatible with HyperCard version 2.1 as well as System 7.Waldo V 3.1.1 requires HyperCard version 2.0 as a minimum.
